Salute to Helldorado Days Picnic April 17

Free Event at Mountain Crest Park

"Salute to Helldorado Days Centennial Picnic" will take place on April 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mountain Crest Park, 4701 N Durango just north of Lone Mountain. The event features free barbecue while it lasts, live music with the country western band Stetson and entertainment for children. Activities include a ferris wheel, train, water feature play area, pony rides and face painting. The public is invited to bring a blanket and the family and enjoy the afternoon. The event is sponsored by Clark County Parks and Community Services and the Las Vegas Centennial Committee.

The Centennial's Helldorado Days and Western Village begins on May 12 and continues through May 15 at the Fremont Street Experience. The recreation of Las Vegas' past features a fully operating old-style post office, a livery stable, general store and much more. Men will be judged in the Whiskerino Contest, and anyone caught without a Helldorado button displayed prominently will take their chances at the Kangaroo Court.

For more information about the picnic, contact Mountain Crest Park at 455-1905.
