- Fireworks Extravaganza To Launch City's Centennial Celebration -

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 30, 2004 - Las Vegas Events (LVE) and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) officials joined the city's top brass today at the Fashion Show Mall to disclose their trump card for a New Year's Eve celebration that promises to outshine all the neon in Las Vegas, the nation's ultimate party city. America's Party 2005: Celebrating 100 Years of Neon will officially kick off Las Vegas' year-long 100th birthday celebration with the largest fireworks show in Las Vegas' history. Billed as the biggest blowout the city has ever seen, the fireworks extravaganza will launch from 10 resort rooftops along the Las Vegas Strip and will incorporate all the firepower befitting this mega-glitzy metropolis.

"In a tribute to our Centennial, this year's fireworks show had to be a once-in-a-lifetime event - bigger, better and more incredible than ever before," said Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and chairman of the Las Vegas Centennial committee. "Fireworks by Grucci created, just for America's Party, a custom-designed aerial shell called the 'Las Vegas Centennial Chip,' to commemorate this landmark event." One hundred of these revolutionary Las Vegas Centennial Chips - each measuring 200 feet in diameter - will be launched as a kickoff to the America's Party Grand Finale and herald the beginning of the Centennial Celebration to come.

The countdown will begin with a B-1 bomber flyover of the Strip and "Grucci Grand Illuminations" - featuring thousands of eye-popping special effects precisely integrated with lasers - all choreographed to a customized musical soundtrack from headliner Clint Holmes. The first-of-its-kind pyrotechnic display - showcasing Grucci's exclusive Rumble Digit Countdown technology - will set a five-mile stretch of sky above the Las Vegas Strip aglow with a rainbow of color, while setting the stage for the Grand Finale, a night of revelry, and the caliber of world-class entertainment, events and concerts that have made Las Vegas the nation's hottest resort destination.

Encore Productions will co-produce the laser show along with Las Vegas Events that is custom-programmed to create myriad effects that coincide with, and complement, the fireworks show from Fireworks by Grucci.

"America's Party has become an annual tradition in Las Vegas, and this year will have even greater meaning as the launch to the Las Vegas Centennial celebration," said LVE President Pat Christenson. "The design and production team at Fireworks by Grucci and Encore Productions, along with the properties on the Strip, have put together a memorable presentation, and we expect this show to surpass all others we've done in Las Vegas. A production of this magnitude requires a tremendous amount of cooperation among all of the properties and agencies involved to make this the entertaining and safe environment that people have come to expect."

The ten rooftop locations for the pyrotechnic display include the Excalibur, MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, Bally's, Flamingo Las Vegas, Venetian, Treasure Island (TI), Stardust, Circus-Circus and Stratosphere.

According to Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson, chairman of the board for the LVCVA, more than 300,000 Vegas visitors are slated to ring in the New Year "Las Vegas" style on what is traditionally the city's busiest weekend. "New Year's is a great time to come to Las Vegas," Gibson said. "And by celebrating 100 years of neon, America's Party is putting icing on the cake and kicking off an exciting Centennial year filled with truly momentous events."

"The Grucci family is proud to be part of such a milestone event as America's Party and the kickoff to Las Vegas' Centennial," said Phil Grucci, show designer and executive vice president of Fireworks by Grucci Inc. "Our long history in Las Vegas in producing most of the premier pyrotechnic displays has created high benchmarks we intend on surpassing. We have designed many dynamic effects that have been developed specifically for America's Party and the Las Vegas Centennial year. I assure you, this is one show you won't want to miss!"

For visitors and residents spending the evening downtown, the Fremont Street Experience - located on the street where Las Vegas first began - will pay tribute to Las Vegas' rich history with a New Year's Eve celebration featuring live music and entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. For more information on New Year's Eve festivities throughout Las Vegas, visit For more information about the Las Vegas Centennial celebration, go to
