Mayor Oscar Goodman dedicates school mural commemorating Las Vegas pioneer

Forty other Clark County School District schools recognized for Centennial murals

What: Mayor Oscar Goodman, Chairman of the Centennial Committee, will dedicate "Helldorado and Mr. Cashman," a mural at Cashman Middle School created by students as part of the Centennial's City of 100 Murals program. Goodman will also recognize 40 other Clark County School District schools at which students created a variety of permanent and temporary murals documenting Las Vegas' rich history. Representations of the additional school murals will be on display during the dedication.

The Cashman Middle School mural depicts a series of images that were created using historical photos. The central figure in the mural is James Cashman, Sr., in western dress flanked by colorful images from the Helldorado Days parade in 1953. Tim Cashman, James Cashman's grandson and Centennial Board member, will also be on hand during the mural dedication.

When: Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Where: Cashman Middle School Lobby, 4622 West Desert Inn Road, east of Decatur Blvd.
