Centennial Concert Starring Red Hot Chili Peppers and Weezer Moving to Silver Bowl Special Events Park
Organizers Add $100K Fireworks Finale

LAS VEGAS -- After intense preparation from Clear Channel Entertainment Properties, the Las Vegas Centennial, City and County officials, the location for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Las Vegas on July 2 has changed from the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center to the Silver Bowl Sports Complex soccer fields. In addition, a $100,000 fireworks finale has been added to the event.

Concert organizers decided to make the change in an effort to provide a more comfortable and enjoyable setting for the 50,000 fans expected to attend. The seating area of the new location is larger and will be cooler, as the grounds are covered with grass, rather than the heat-absorbing blacktop surface at the original parking lot site.

The site, located next to Sam Boyd Stadium, has plenty of parking lots which are closer to the concert area, providing more convenient access to the site.

Tickets already issued will be honored at the new site. No new or additional tickets will be given out for the new location. As originally scheduled, doors will open at 5 p.m. with music scheduled to begin around 7 p.m. followed by WEEZER and then the eveningšs headliner the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.

The Silver Bowl Sports Complex is located at 6800 E. Russell Road just east of Boulder Highway. Directions and a map to the Silver Bowl Sports Complex, as well as a list of approved items concert goers can bring into the site will be available at www.vegasrocks100.com on Thursday, June 23.

The July 2 Red Hot Chili Peppers concert will punctuate a wildly successful Centennial Celebration, a yearlong party that has paid tribute to the exciting people, places and events that helped shape Las Vegas history.
