Watch Us Build the World's Largest Birthday Cake!

Beginning at midnight, Saturday, May 14, you can watch the construction of the World's Largest Birthday Cake at Cashman Center's Exhibit Hall-A. The Centennial Celebration has joined with Stevens Media Group and Creative WebCam Live! to present the live webcast.

You will need Windows Media Player to view the live video stream. If you have problems viewing the video on this page, click here.

The cake will be assembled from sheet cakes donated by Sara Lee Foods of Cincinnati, Ohio. When completed, the cake will be seven layers tall, each with icing, and weigh in at greater than 130,000 lbs. And the calories? A whopping 3 million!

The building process begins Saturday, May 14 at midnight when five Sara Lee semi-trucks pull up and unload cake at Cashman Center's Exhibit Hall-A. Another two semis will drop off the icing. Volunteers will start assembling and icing right away in order to be finished in time for the 2 p.m. public opening.

The general public is invited to view and photograph the World's Largest Birthday Cake starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. The cake will be cut and served at 5:15 p.m. following remarks by Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, dignitaries from Sara Lee and local celebrities.

The Centennial Office is looking for volunteers to help build the cake during the early morning hours of May 15 and to dismantle it during the evening hours of May 15. To join the work crew, come to Exhibit Hall-A at Cashman Center and sign on.
