Once Upon 100 Weddings
Come get in the wedding mood on June 9, 2005, when 100 couples exchange vows under the Fremont Street canopy in downtown Las Vegas. Some 98 of these couples will be chosen by Southwest Airlines and flown to Las Vegas to participate. Two of the couples will be from Las Vegas.
Nearly 60 local couples have e-mailed applications to the Centennial office from which two winning couples will be chosen by a jury comprised of a marriage counselor, a divorce attorney and a happy couple with 30 years of wedded bliss behind them. Applications are under review now and the winners will be announced on this Web site as soon as they are chosen.
GIFTS: The two winning couples from Las Vegas will receive gifts from several local merchants. For example, David's Bridal will outfit the bride with a selected style. Cold Stone Creamery will provide the wedding party with an individual wedding cake. Southwest Airlines will provide air transportation for a honeymoon to selected locations.
REQUIREMENTS: At least one member of the bridal couple must have been a Clark County resident for the past two years and be able to prove it with a driver's license or utility bill dating back to June 2003 or before. Both members of the bridal couple must be age 21 or over and eligible to obtain a marriage certificate in the State of Nevada. The bridal couple must be available to attend Centennial-related events from June 6 to June 9.
