Lorraine T. Hunt
Nevada's Lieutenant Governor Lorraine T. Hunt was born in Niagara Falls, NY and studied at the Westlake College of Music. In 1943 she and her family moved to Las Vegas for health reasons and soon found Nevada to be an entrepreneurial state with unique opportunities to achieve the American dream. Her family quickly became an active part of the community by opening restaurants and developing properties.
Lorraine Hunt was the founder, president and CEO of Perri Inc. Management Company and The Bootlegger Bistro. She was a managing member of The Piazza LLC shopping center. Ms. Hunt served as Clark County Commissioner for District G.
One of her favorite memories of early Las Vegas was when the Strip was little more than the old Los Angeles highway with two dude ranches -- the El Rancho and the Last Frontier. Those were the days when people came from all over the United States to establish a six-week residency in order to get a quickie divorce.
Our valley has changed so much since its early days.
"My vision for the Las Vegas Centennial is to savor our early beginnings and articulate the future of our diverse global community," Ms. Hunt said.
