Fred Albrecht

Fred Albrecht was born in Youngstown, Ohio, April 10, 1944. He moved Las Vegas in 1970 to work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as the assistant basketball coach. He is currently Vice President of University and Community Relations. Fred is married to Connie Albrecht and has a daughter named Michelle Castro and an 8 year old grandson, Andrew.

Fred thinks the Centennial provides a window for the world to view Las Vegas and its history. His favorite memory of Las Vegas is working with the Rat Pack to raise money for UNLV Athletics in the early 70s and playing charity basketball games with Shecky Green and Buddy Hackett. He thinks that in 100 years, Las Vegas will be a thriving, diverse metropolitan city of 5-7 million people.
