David G. Schwartz
Dave Schwartz is the Coordinator of the Gaming Studies Research Center. His first book, "Suburban Xanadu: The Casino Resort on the Las Vegas Strip and Beyond, is a bold, original look at the forces that created today's Casino business and how that industry has become an enduring part of American life. It is on the amazon.com list of Las Vegas' bestsellers.
Dr. Schwartz serves on the Las Vegas Centennial Committee, and his favorite memory of Las Vegas is yet to come. His favorite piece of Las Vegas trivia is that Bugsy did not build the Flamingo, and that it was not the first Strip casino anyways.
What will Las Vegas be like in 100 years? He thinks it will be bigger, hotter and less predictable. He sees the Centennial as a chance for the City to show the world what it is, and what it will be. This should be a celebration of the tremendous history of Las Vegas and its citizens.
