As mayor of the most exciting city in the world, I had the pleasure of working with countless Las Vegas residents to plan a year chock-full of centennial celebrations. We planned events and developed projects for nearly 2 million residents and more than 35 million guests. That's a big party.

We began the revelry at America's Party, 2005 and carried it straight through America's Party, 2006. On May 15, 2005, Las Vegas turned 100 years old, and the Centennial Celebration Committee met its promise to commemorate our 100th birthday as only Las Vegas can -- with a birthday party that was bigger and brighter than the neon lights on the Las Vegas Strip.
